Joyce Schaer, the founder of Pilates Pop-Up, speaks to our community about getting outdoors with pilates.
What services do you offer outdoors with pilates?
We teach a six-week series called “Pilates with Purpose,” which is a class just for women and their kids. We meet at a park that has a playground, and I keep the group intimate with a maximum of 12 participants. During the series, we really grow connected while developing our Pilates practice.
What do you feel are the mindful benefits of being outdoors?
The opportunity to be one with nature. I am so fortunate to live in Dallas and can teach outside almost year-round. My “Pilates with Purpose” class meets at a park overlooking downtown Dallas. I try to end the session right at sunset. It’s just breathtaking.
When I practice outdoors…
….I involve my kids, breathe fresh air, and enjoy nature.
