Real Pilates is hardcore and outdoors is the bomb!
That’s the motto of the newest Dallas Pilates rage, Pilates Pop-Up, set to open December 1, 2021 in Park Cities, Dallas. Join us outdoors in several local parks. Find our convenient locations.
Led by Joyce Schaer, a certified instructor, the highly trained staff is dedicated to Power Pilates, so they strip down the workouts to the fundamentals. Joseph Pilates, the father of Pilates, taught there is no need for crazy, loud music or other distractions. Schaer says Pilates Pop-Up intends to differentiate others in Dallas by focusing exclusively on this old-school approach while conducting group classes outdoors.
“There has been a craze over the past few years that moved away from the original, authentic Pilates method, which Joseph Pilates called Contrology,” Schaer says. “We named our Pilates business Pilates Pop-Up so we could be outdoors or any venue that our customers want to do Pilates workouts. Whether indoors or outdoors, group class or private lesson, we bring Pilates back to the basic roots.”
As the name suggests, Contrology refers to the art of controlling your body, the idea that one can create change through movement and determination. Schaer promises you will feel a difference after 10 sessions, see a difference after 20 sessions and have a whole new body after 30 sessions. We’d call that pretty hardcore. In fact, this is what Joseph Pilates originally said about Pilates classes as a goal.
Schaer also believes the atmosphere of exercising outdoors in several of Dallas’s most beautiful parks lends itself to a great workout and enhances the pleasure by providing the health benefits of fresh air and sunlight.
“Pilates Pop-Up is located in a cool high-rise office building which serves as an inclement weather class site. Most often Pilates Pop-Up is outdoors in a wonderful park recognizable by our colorful flags. Check out our locations.
“I often get asked if I just like teaching Pilates outdoors, and I have determined, in fact, I do,” Schaer says. “I love the outdoors, fresh air, beautiful scenery and the freedom of exercising in the open in a group setting. It enhances the creativity of developing the Pilates Pop-Up brand, the look and feel, but the common thread that has not changed is my determination to teach the community that real Pilates, especially mat pilates is hardcore and life changing!” A whole new body in just 30 classes? Schaer insists Yes! So maybe you should try it!
Classes for Pilates Outdoors
Mat classes are $30 for a single session or $95 per month for a membership with special privileges and 5 classes. In addition, Pilates Pop-Up offers private equipment classes such as Reformer, and Wunda-chair for $70.00 & $65.00 respectively.
Group classes are limited to 12 students, so instructors can give everyone individualized attention. The best part? During the grand opening week (December 3-December 11), classes are free.
